Main Event: Saturday: 1 PM – 10:30 PM

Pre event Trophy Hill Climb (8AM at the Main Trailer)

Side-by-Side Under the Lights racing after the Championship Runs

This is a single day of Hill Climbing at BMC. Watch local, Regional and National riders battle it up our Nightmare Hill, which consists of a 2-phase course: first up a steep run with a vertical ledge, then on to the upper mine field roller section to the finish.

This hill challenges pro riders, and spectators enjoy a great show into the night with riding under the lights.

Pre-Party at the Powderhorn Lounge Friday, August 25th

Powderhorn Lounge BillingsPre-Climb get together Friday the 25th at the Powderhorn Lounge. There will be a Calcutta and Free giveaways starting at 7:00 pm, this is always a good time, bring your friends and family.

The term “Calcutta” describes a type of auction-pool wagering that can be applied to our Hill Climb. In golf, a Calcutta is most common at a tournament featuring 4-person teams. In simplest terms, a golf Calcutta works like this:

  • Hill Climb spectators or riders bid, auction style, on a Hill Climb multiple rider team they think will win / be at the top of the Championship
  • Highest bid on the team wins (the highest bidder now “bought” the team for the event)
  • All the money raised through the “auction” goes into the pot.
  • At the end of the tournament, those who “won” the team that then won the tournament get a predetermined payout from the auction pool

Spectators

  • Adults $10, Kids 10 and under Free. Competitor Fees separate.
  • Plenty of parking and a variety of concessions are available and family picnics / tail gates are encouraged
  • Bring your coolers, lawn chairs, canopies, tarp covers, toy haulers, campers, trailers, tailgate set-ups and other outdoor supplies for a wonderful weekend of watching.
  • An area to set up chairs and canopies, and an area for vehicle parking/viewing
  • Loudspeaker System, and tune in your radio to 88.5 FM

42nd Annual Spring MX Scrambles @ BMC Grounds
Apr 22 @ 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

Come watch a classic Scrambles race, designed after the historic sport that eventually became what we know of as full on Motocross today. The BMC designs the course each year with high speed stretches and an array of left and right hand turns including hair pins to test the cornering ability and acceleration/braking of the athletes. While some turns have berms, others are low, purely technical and require an elite rider ability to execute with speed, without crashing.

You’ll see a variety of riders on the BMC Scrambles track as it is designed to challenge the best riders and be friendly enough for young competitors. This course is all about speed and cornering and contains no jumps. Set in the middle of BMC’s 100 year old 1,421 acre facility, the track is wide open. Fans enjoy the high speed views from all around the course and are free to walk about the pit area and mingle with the competitors.

Entry Fee

42nd Annual Elk Basin Cross Country: Part of the 406XC Series @ Elk Basin
Jun 23 @ 8:30 am – Jun 24 @ 4:00 pm

June 23 & 24

406XC Montana Cross Country Race SeriesBMC’s World Famous Elk Basin Cross Country race will be returning for its 42nd year running and is still free for spectators. Rider athletes know to expect a challenging course consisting of miles of single track, rocks, sagebrush, hill climbs, descents, ascents, side hills, sand sections, rocky runs, root ways, timber limb dodging, a few natural jumps and everything in between that requires top-notch endurance for both the rider and the bike. Elk Basin outside of Belfry Montana is considered high desert Bad Lands terrain and is no walk in the park by any means. Many top competitors in the Pro classes can find their body or bike unable to finish and that is why fans and rider teams will see a “No Whimps Allowed” sign at the event entrance. The full course is approximately 20 miles to complete a single lap and course design changes each year to keep the event ride dynamic and ever-changing. Youth Classes, Women and Open C race Saturday; and although not as difficult a course, still challenges the kids and beginners and they are just as enjoyable to watch. A and B classes race Sunday on the big course.

Fans and riders typically make it a whole weekend and camp, with a Poker Run on the main course after Saturday’s races, yarn-telling around the evening campfires and the main Events starting Sunday morning. The schedule is below and times are tentative.

bmc-sponsor-square-Tractor-and-EquipmentA Word Of Caution: We know how many of you competitors want to ride this event. If you have just started riding motorcycles, this is not a race for beginners. If you don’t know simple rules of racing such as “picking a line,” and flags, you could endanger yourself and some of the riders that have been racing for years. Getting in the way of someone jumping because you’ve moved into someone else’s line could end up in a disaster. Supercross requires knowledge and safety.
