Motocross HCMA Series @ BMC Grounds

Motocross HCMA Billings 2019

Join the HCMA Motocross Series MX race hosted at BMC’s famous 2-mile Yellowstone River Forest Track, that is fast and full of features that include high flying air time, double and triple jumps, whoops, sand and deep loam berm corners, table tops, rhythm sections, hair pin turns, sand sections and sweeping curves and downhill and uphill jumps.

This series race is a single Day event (practice and racing on the same day).

Adults $15, Kids 10 and under Free with paid adult.

Competitor Information

  • This race will follow the HCMA Series rules, classes etc.
  • NOTE: All competitors 18 Years or younger MUST have a Neck Brace or Neck Roll to compete.
  • Camping is permitted, and will open the evening before the race
  • Sign ups might start the day before or online with the HCMA Series
  • Practice follows the riders meeting at 8AM
  • Full Track Race (2-Mile Course)
  • Absolutely NO DOGS or pets

Parking, Food, Beverage and Spectators

Concessions are available and family picnics are encouraged. Bring your lawn chairs, canopies, tailgates and other outdoor supplies for a wonderful day of spectating. Billings’ Pro Hill Climbing starts with the Big Sky Challenge Pro Hill Climb. Hundreds of professional competitors from across the United States and Canada, compete for thousands of dollars in prize money as they rip their way to the top of the Big Sky Pro Hill with hardcore terrain, past vertical cliffs and under-the-lights conditions.

Two days of extreme motorcycle hill climbing out at the Billings Motorcycle Club’s “Big Sky Hill” has entertained Billings crowds for years. With the new terrain engineering and side-by-side racing, the professional athletes from all over the Nation and Canada are preparing their high-powered motorcycles and vertical warrior gear for extreme mountain challenges.

Entry Fee

Pay at the Gate. Adults $10 per day, Kids 10 and under Free with paid adult. Competitor sign-up fees are separate.

Women’s Workshop @ BMC Grounds

Women On Wheels Recreation Group Workshop

Calling all Lady Riders for a Women’s Workshop day at the Billings Motorcycle Club (BMC). This workshop is open to any level of lady rider (beginner, intermediate, or advanced). Riders will get a chance to ride a variety of tracks, courses, and natural terrain with experienced leadership riders whose focus is to improve riding ability in a non-stressful and non-intimidating environment. The event is hosted by the Montana Women on Wheels Recreational Riders group.

About the Montana Women on Wheels Recreational Riders

We are a women focused club. Montana Women on Wheels events support and provide a non-stressful non-intimidating environment for all level of riders ranging from beginner to expert. It is our goal to link women with like-minded and like-ability with each other to test their abilities and push their selves to a higher level in a fun atmosphere surrounded by comradery of other like-minded women. The group has held workshop days and camp weekends at the Billings Motorcycle Club and the Pipestone OHV area, and has built a female moto community with participants from Montana, Idaho, Wyoming and North Dakota.

Participant Information

Any level of female motorcycle rider is welcome (fresh, beginner, intermediate, advanced).This is not an ATV workshop. An informal pre registration will be requested for a total participant count (Details coming). The Workshop fee is to be determined.

What will we be learning?

  • How to ride better, develop confidence, and overcome challenges
  • Basic and Advanced Bike operation on a variety of terrain
  • Fellowship, Community and empowerment

What will we be riding?

Depending on a rider’s interest and level, the Billings Motorcycle Club has the following off road tracks, and 1,421 acres of trails, hills and exciting natural terrain:

  • Main grounds flat areas
  • Motocross Track and 50s Track
  • Flat Track (oval course)
  • Endurocross Track
  • Scrambles Turn Track
  • Sand Drag Strip
  • Sweeping Roads
  • Wide Trails and Single Track
  • Wide Areas, Trees, Coulees, Brush, Rock
  • Rolling Hills and Advanced Terrain
  • Uphill and downhill riding

Pits, Parking, Picnics and Spectators

  • Participants will be directed to a designated “Staging Area” where they will park vehicles, RVs, Bikes, set up canopies etc.
  • All non-member riders will sign the BMC release form
  • Bring your tailgate picnic supplies

Guidelines, Restrictions and Tips

  • Helmets Must Be Worn at ALL TIMES while on a motorcycle or ATV at the BMC. No exceptions.
  • No pets, campfires, fireworks or firearms
  • It is strongly recommended that all riders use extra safety gear that can include: riding pants and jersey, boots, goggles, gloves, chest protector, knee pads, elbow pads, neck brace etc.
  • Ensure all bikes are in decent riding condition. Do a pre-flight on your bike to check for issues that might involve your throttle, chain/sprockets, suspension, and general bike set up
  • Basic bike overview and light maintenance will be available within the group

Gas and Service

Gas and quick market items at Casey’s Corner Gas station, 1.5 miles away. Moto parts and some mechanic service will be available onsite.

Quick Directions: Once in Billings, Exit 447 off of I-90, onto South Billings Boulevard (heading South), continue South across the Yellowstone river bridge, turn left at Casey’s Corner Exxon Station, go 1.5 miles along the river to  the large white gate on the right and enter.

Friday Night Motocross #2 @ BMC Grounds

Friday Night MotocrossEnjoy local Motocross racing at Billings Montana’s BMC motocross track that sits next to the famous Yellowstone River. Join the fans that cheer on at the local Pro Motocross athletes who come out to ride with the best local riders and challenge their ability on the “Front Half “of Montana’s Yellowstone River Forest Track.

This MX “Friday Night” course is fast and full of features that include double jumps, woops, sand and deep loam berm corners, table tops, hair pin turns, sand sections and sweeping curves and lots of great “air time.”

Competitor Information

Sign up a few hours before the race. Short practice before racing starts. Class entry fees are $25-35 per class. There are Hole Shot prizes and other giveaways. Each race will have its class winners, plus the two-race series will have an overall winner for “points per Moto” (the most points collected during the two-races).

Two-Day Event: The Great American Professional Hill Climb is one of the Nation’s Largest Hill Climbs and is Billings, Montana’s premier outdoor moto event with event features including racing under the lights, side-by-side racing under the lights and new extreme hill designs and courses for each day.

So fasten your seat belts and mark your calendars for one of Billings Montana’s longest-running and extreme outdoor entertainment events … The BMC’s Great American Championship Hill Climb! This special event and the gnarly, unparalleled vertical mountain terrain found only at the BMC grounds, truly make it The Hill Climbing Capital of the World.®

The largest Champion purse and the rights to one of the most prestigious hill climbing championships, attracts professional motorcycle athletes from local, regional, national and international locations. Spectators come from around the Nation and Canada, filling the viewing areas and beyond to witness the pro champion riders and qualified challengers battle it out to the top of BMC’s Great American Hill. The 2-day event begins on Friday with afternoon and evening races that lead into the night with stunning vertical Side-by-Side “Showdown” racing under the lights. Saturday includes 601 cc bike, exhibition racing and later, the famous battles under the lights including side-by-side races. Saturday night the Great American Champion will be crowned.

Supercross athletes come from across the country to compete for the top podium spot and these riders take their championships to the edge. Enjoy delicious food, ice cold beverages and take a look at the hottest new motorcycles and accessories on display by Motorsports vendors from around the region. Keep your eyes and ears out for crowd giveaways, special offers, raffles and play-by-play commentary.

Tickets available at Montana Fair gate and ahead of time during Montana Fair at www.montanafair.com. Montana Fair Metra Park restrictions apply. Event notices will be on the Montana fair Supercross web page.

Competitor Sign Up Online and Information

A Word Of Caution: We know how many of you competitors want to ride this event. If you have just started riding motorcycles, this is not a race for beginners. If you don’t know simple rules of racing such as “picking a line,” and flags, you could endanger yourself and some of the riders that have been racing for years. Getting in the way of someone jumping because you’ve moved into someone else’s line could end up in a disaster. Supercross requires knowledge and safety.

Pro Rider “Dash for Cash” during halftime: $1,500 up for grabs this year

The Chassis Works in Billings is putting up the Cash for the Dash. During the Dash, the rider in first place at the end of each lap (1-5) wins the designated money for that lap:

  • Lap 1 Winner gets $100
  • Lap 2 Winner gets $200
  • Lap 3 Winner gets $300
  • Lap 4 Winner gets $400
  • Lap5 winner gets $500

If a single rider stays in first place for the entire 5-lap Dash, they take home the entire $1,500.

Rules, Classes and Notices

Race Registration: You must have your Full Name, Address, Phone Number and Social Security Number must clearly be readable for State and Federal Income Tax purposes.

Class Notes: Contact a Promoter with Questions

  • 0-55cc Class Air/Liquid
  • A rider may not enter a machine in more than one class within the same classification
  • Air, means the bike cannot be liquid cooled
  • Age limit for 0-55cc rider is 9. If a rider turns 10 after January 1st, they may compete the current year in the 0-55cc Class… Make sure you have proof. i.e., birth certificate (if asked)

How do I know what class I belong in?

65cc class is 56cc-70cc

  • Rider must be under 12 years old as of January 1 of the current race season
  • Supercross ages 6-8 and 9-11

85cc is 71cc-90cc Class or up to 150cc 4 strokes

  • Rider must be under 16 as of January 1 of the current race season

Super Mini is 70cc -112cc

  • Rider must be under 16 years old as of January 1 of the current race season

Women’s Exhibition Class

  • Due to a lower turn out for Women riders, a single 4-Lap Exhibition Moto will be held after Half time.

A Classes

  • 250cc Class: You can ride 125-200cc two strokes. and 151-250cc four strokes. (No 250cc 2 strokes)
  • 450cc Class: You can ride 250cc-450cc two strokes and 251-450cc fours strokes. (No 250cc 4 strokes) KTM 350 is ok
  • Payouts 1st $1,300 • 2nd $1,000 • 3rd $800 • 4th $600 • 5th $500 • 6th $350 • 7th $300 • 8th $250 • 9th $200 • 10th $175 • 11th $150 • 12th $125

B Classes

  • 250 “B” You can ride 125-200cc two strokes and 151 -250cc four strokes. (No 250cc 2 strokes)
  • 450 “B” You can ride 250-450cc two strokes and 251-450cc four strokes. (No 250cc 4 strokes) KTM 350 is ok

Riders will be classified as either “A” Expert or “B” Junior Riders

  • Any rider who has held or holds a professional License will be classified as an “A” rider. Any rider holding another organizations” or district’s competition license with a ration higher than his district license shall ride in the higher classification. Failure to disclose this information shall result in suspension.
  • If you sign up once for the “A” Class, you will always be in the “A” Class. An “A” rider cannot ride “B” Class in one class and “A” in another class without the exception of the Mini Bike Class
  • Any rider may change rider classification by application to the Board of Directors to move from the “A: Class to the “B” Class. (BMC Board)
  • A rider may be classified as an “A” rider in one discipline but be classified as a “B” rider in another discipline: Hill climb, Off Road-Open Course, Off Road Closed Course – Motocross, Scrambles, Supercross, and Flat Track etc.
  • Women can ride in all classes listed above

Side-by-Side Under the Lights racing after the Championship Runs

This is a single day of Hill Climbing at BMC. Watch local, Regional and National riders battle it up our Nightmare Hill, which consists of a 2-phase course: first up a steep run with a vertical ledge, then on to the upper mine field roller section to the finish.

This hill challenges pro riders, and spectators enjoy a great show into the night with riding under the lights.

  • Plenty of parking and a variety of concessions are available and family picnics / tail gates are encouraged

The BMC Fall Classic Motocross runs the famous BMC 2-mile Yellowstone River Forest Track, that is fast and full of features that include high flying air time, double and triple jumps, woops, sand and deep loam berm corners, table tops, rhythm sections, hair pin turns, sand sections and sweeping curves and downhill and uphill jumps. Spectators enjoy excellent viewing areas, and competitors rip a fully-prepped track with a state of the art sprinkler system and heavy equipment engineering.

Competitor Information

Open Practice Saturday (open to the public – even if you do not race Sunday) is 9AM-2PM for $20. Race sign ups are all day Saturday and 7-9AM Sunday before the race.

Fall Classic Hill Climb @ Billings Motorcycle Club

As the fall season closes, the BMC hosts its final Hill Climb of the year with the Fall Hill Climb. This Hill Climb is an annual autumn Billings Hill Climb with hundreds of professional competitors from the region, competing for top champion positions as they rip their way to the top of the Eastern BMC Hill course over hardcore terrain, past vertical cliffs and challenging obstacles.

With the new terrain engineering and motocross-style start sections, the pros are preparing their high-powered motorcycles and vertical warrior gear for extreme Fall mountain challenges. Event starts at 10AM and goes until 5PM.

Entry Fee

Adults $10, Kids 10 and under Free with paid adult. Competitor sign-up fees are separate.
